AMERICAN AIRLINES SPONSORED THE PERFORMANCE OF THE PEONY PAVILION

Four shows of The Peony Pavilion were performed as a large Chinese modern dance drama under sponsorship of American Airlines at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan, New York on Jun. 5-8, 2012 (EST), providing another opportunity for American audience to appreciate the charm of Chinese art.

The Peony Pavilion performed at the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center as a dance drama presented a New Year gift full of eastern classic charm for the audience in New York. Different from the Broadway opera, step dance and ballet that are popular in the west, this dance drama is adapted from a traditional Chinese opera The Peony Pavilion, added with many modern art forms such as changing light and stage background, exhibiting classic implication with modern techniques as a window for American audience to have an understanding of China's culture and art with a long history. The audience present acclaimed: "Chinese dance is wonderful, Chinese culture is attractive"

After the 2010 Shanghai Expo, American Airlines began to cooperate with Chinese art groups, including the sponsorship for "Meet in Beijing" cultural festival. It sponsored the performance of The Peony Pavilion in New York because it recognizes that this dance drama can significantly promote the understanding between the two countries' people. According to Kurt Stache, VP International, American Airlines, the company, on the one hand, is actively expanding its business in China, on the other it is committed to enhancing cultural exchange between the people of different countries, and art is one of the best forms of such exchange.

AMERICAN AIRLINES SELECTED AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF 'MEET IN BEIJING'

American Airlines is proud to be one of only two corporate sponsors of the 2011 Meet in Beijing Arts Festival, an event that attracts world-class international performers and artists to Beijing. It has been held annually for the last 10 years. This year's festival was a held in conjunction with the Chinese Ministry of Culture, the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television and the Beijing Municipality Government l, which run from April 27 until the end of May, spotlighted how expressions of culture transcend beyond arts and entertainment, embracing friendship, education, and cultural diversity. It came to a close on May 25-27 when it features the prestigious National Ballet of China's Red Detachment of Women with Thursday, May 26 dedicated as American Airlines Night.

"Bringing the people and cultures of the world together is what air travel is all about," said Gerard Arpey, American's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Like air travel, the arts lift our spirits, broaden our horizon and give us a fresh perspective on the world around us."

AMERICAN AIRLINES 'BRIDGING CULTURES THROUGH MUSIC'

On 7th April 2011, American Airlines celebrated the launch of its new PVGLAX service and the 5th Anniversary of running its business in China by hosting a specially-themed "Bridging Cultures Thru Music" dinner banquet in Shanghai. Mr. Zhou Zhengkai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of East Regional Administration of CAAC; Ms. Beatrice A Camp, U.S. Consul General in Shanghai and Madame Jianfen Gu, a famous composer in China attended the event.

During the event, American Airlines announced that all the customers travelling with AA's transpacific routes would be able to enjoy 20 famous songs of Madame Gu by using our in flight Personal Entertainment Device.

Madame Jianfen Gu has created about a thousand of songs, and most of them are modern classical songs that are well received by and won universal praise from Chinese audience.

The primary songs created by Madame Jianfen Gu include "Young Friends Come Together", "In the Early Morning, We Walk on the Path", "That is Me", "Greenery's Affections to its Root", "Missing", "Mama in the Candle Light", "Today is Your Birthday", "Singing with a Smile", the theme song of the TV series The Romance of Three Kingdoms "The Yangtze River Surges to the East" and the insert song "The Sky of the History", etc.

In her old age, Madame Jianfen Gu began to create songs for children, and the CDs and vocal concert DVDs of the New School Songs series she created based on the lyrics of ancient poetry, such as the poems of the Tang dynasty, have been published.
